129. 浮気者の始末
129. 人の妻が別の男と（現行犯で）不意打たれたなら、何れとも縛って聖河に投げ込まるべし。但し、夫はその妻を赦すも可、されば王はその奴隷を。
If a man's wife be surprised (in flagrante delicto) with another man, both shall be tied and thrown into the water, but the husband may pardon his wife and the king his slaves.
129.be surprised:おそらく英訳者のニュアンス的には「寝込みを襲われた」つまり、アプロディーテーが浮気したアレース共々、夫ヘーパイストスが仕掛けたベッドの罠に囚われた状況を言うのであろう。
his wife and the king his slaves：おそらく英訳者は the king を浮気者と見たか、「夫が妻を赦すなら、王は（浮気者が）奴隷 （となるところ）を赦す」というのであろう。しかし古代にあって、浮気男を奴隷に堕とすなど、処罰を厳しくした例を聞かない。
